Curtis Fields
Introducing Curtis Fields
by Mario Jackson
Who is Curtis Fields? Curtis Fields is an eccentric, emerging singer/songwriter and multi-instrumental musician with a beautiful blend of sounds influenced from the soul-stirring melodies of the late Donny Hathaway to the new age rock of top 40 favorite, Maroon 5. Those common life experiences that connect us all inspired Curtis to write and produce his own music that comes from a deep, spiritual
understanding of human life, love and suffrage. Always different, Curtis began to distinguish himself from other singers by mastering the technique of playing the guitar on his cellular phone.
At an early age, Curtis honed his performance skills from singing gospel during his father’s national traveling ministry. In 2006, Curtis entered in Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Here, Curtis developed an even greater love for music as he trained and
traveled with the college’s internationally prestigious Jubilee Singers. While at Fisk, Curtis became a member of the first Greek organization for African Americans, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, joining the ranks of such greats as Martin Luther King, Jr. and Fredrick Douglass. On week prior to his commencement from Fisk College, the 22 year old released his first compilation, The Climb. The album represented Curtis desire to put genuine music back into the masses despite the insurmountable obstacles that pitted up against “his climb.” Curtis graduate from Fisk and a month later married his college sweet heart Dakinni fields and expecting their first child later this year. Curtis continues to wow crowds with his five octave voice, sharing the stage for Neo-Soul’s budding star, Eric Robinson, 5 time Grammy award winning artist John Legend and opening up in Nashville and Birmingham for the historical UniverSoul Circus and beating out hundreds of hopefuls with his win in Nashville’s 92.1 (92Q) city-wide online talent competition.

"Sofailla, a Guadeloupe original
author and her band is trying to explore through her music, the alliance
between Caribbean sounds, jazz and soul. Born in the French West Indies
(guadeloupe) in 1983, she arrived in paris at her 18 for her
scientifics studies. She’s been singing since her early age,
listening to whitney houston’s songs and the motown classic's, but she
never tried to sing in front of public, afraid of their reaction.
In April 2011, she started to take some singing lessons and and to
do small concerts and open mic in bars in Paris. Now she and her band
are doing quite famous stages still in Paris. They try to offer dancing tunes, catchy while soothing."
